Synopsis:
On
the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a
nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A
quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale
creature that craves much more than her blood.
She
is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An
island uncharted by any maps and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on
the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's
life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of
hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite
his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes
that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all
within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will
she succeed? ...Or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have
met at the hands of the Novak’s?
My
Thoughts:
I
really enjoyed this book; it was an entirely new concept to the vampire genre.
Sofia
is one of those characters that make her story worthwhile. She is strong, yet
she is lost all at the same time. She is pinning over her best friend who she
thinks she’s in love with, and was hurt by seeing him with another girl. Taking
a walk on the beach she was approached by a stranger. She was cautious of him.
Then she’s waking up as a slave somewhere, and she has no idea what is
happening or where she is.
They
keep her on this island, and she was to meet the prince and her only chance of
survival is to make him fall for her. She overcomes her fear, and makes the
best of her situation; she lets it be known that she isn’t scared, when really
she is terrified.
She
is meant to be the prince’s slave.
Derek
is the prince and he is a vampire who hates his entire existence, but he is
drawn to Sofia, because she has compassion. The other vampires think of him as
a legend, he gave them a place to be safe from hunters.
Sofia
though is not always so lucky, Derek will do anything to protect her, and
when Sofia starts to get tormented by Derek’s brother Lucas, he doesn’t know
how to help her. He knows deep down that Lucas is the cause of all Sofia’s
pain, but he also doesn’t want to face it.
I’m
excited for the rest of Derek and sofas story. This is just one of those books
you can fall in love with. It was a short and enjoyable read. Its one of those books
that you will want to read again and again; it was also put together very well.
