Synopsis:
Through all the years that passed, the memory of their love never faded.
Motivational
speaker and drug rehab counselor Ward Gemmell can hold an audience in the palm
of his hand-because he knows what it's like to have everything he loved slip
through his fingers. When a particularly heartfelt speech reunites him with the
daughter he never knew he had, suddenly the love of his life is back within his
grasp. What could a guy like him do to earn a second chance?
Good
girl Ansley Marlow was heartbroken the day Ward revealed his hidden life-the
kind of secret that would tear anyone apart. But so many years have passed and
so much has changed that it isn't as hard now for her to believe in fate and
redemption, even when those around her are unforgiving. All she needs is the
strength to reach out and reclaim the beautiful life she should have had so
long ago.
My Thoughts:
I
really liked this book. A drug addict, that became clean, a long lost lover and
a daughter he never knew he had. Will They have their ever after?
Ward
Gemmell is a drug rehab counselor, who helps teens overcome drug abuse and does
motivational speeches at high schools. One day while he was at a high school he
was approached by a girl begging him to let her volunteer at the rehab because
her dad had been a drug addict and she thought that maybe if she helped someone
like him, she would feel like she was helping him. He felt bad for the girl and
said he would send her parents some information about the program, and then
when he looks at the paper with the familiar name on it, he realized he was face
to face with his daughter. I liked Ward, I also felt a little sorry for him. He
is like a handsome guy that you really could relate to, but he is also a jerk
and hurts people without even realizing it. He is one of those guys that lots
of books have and that make him so enticing.
Ansley,
the mother of the daughter, the girl Ward has always been in love with. She is
a bundle full of emotions where ward is concerned, she misses him, yet she
doesn’t want him to be around their daughter because he might hurt her, and
then she’s angry at him for not coming back for her. Until she learns the
truth, and its enough to make you feel sorry for them.
