A week or two ago I did a review tour of Slyvie Fox "In the Nick Of Time" So here is my review, a little late.
My Rating: 3 1/2 Stars
Synopsis:
Divorced and done with her dry spell,
Holly Prentice is ready to get back in the game. But with two conditions: her
future mate can’t be married to his career, and he has to have a couch.
Nick Andreis loves his job, and his only furniture is a king-size bed. He’s
also single, sexy, and six years Holly’s junior. Any guy this hunky and
carefree can’t be serious about the future.
After one spontaneous and explosive
night, Holly decides that her search for Mr. Right can wait. Nick can be
Mr. Right Now.
Nick has waited years for
Holly. Now that she’s dating again, he’s determined to be the only
man in her life. He wants what Holly wants: forever. Convincing her
of that won’t be easy, but Nick agrees—with fingers crossed behind his back—to
Holly’s idea that they can be bed buddies until someone serious comes
along. His plan: use the time between their passionate nights to convince
her that he is the one.
Will Holly’s unexpected pregnancy change the rules of
their games? Or can they both decide to play for keeps?
My Thoughts:
This book was different in a way. It’s still a great
concept for a book.
Holly is a divorced 30 something. She is shy, and unsure
of herself, but she does know what she wants. Her friend says she needs to get
back out there, and she feels she’s ready too. She agrees to attend a party
with all the friends her and her ex husband had together. She knows she can’t
avoid them forever. Holly is the type of character that I don’t really like too
much. She knows what she wants, but she is also stuck up and in her own head.
She makes decisions with out giving anyone a chance. She runs into an old
friend Nick, he was the type of character that I love the young hot guy that
has it all. A great body, a career, he is like every girls dream man. Holly is
really hesitant about him at first but decides to go see his new house anyways.
She doesn’t really look at him as a potential date, she doesn’t think he can be
serious; her reasoning was that he didn’t have a couch. He was also a friend of
her ex husband, so she doesn’t look at him like that either. She also had a huge
deal with her age, because Nick was in his late 20’s and she was in her early
30’s. She did make me mad over this. Nick peruses her anyways without knowing
that she will never take him seriously, it takes nick a lot, Holly finally
agrees to see him on a regular basis, and the only catch is that it is purely
physical. Holly doesn’t believe nick can be her Mr. Right; he’s just her Mr.
Right now. Things are really good between the two of them, Holly just couldn’t
get past her insecurities, Then all of a sudden she is pregnant, that makes her
withdraw from nick even more, she makes all the assumptions before even just
giving him a chance. I was really frustrated with holly a lot. She started to
grow on me though, insecurities and all. I found this story sucked me in from
the moment she met Nick, and I didn’t put it down until I finished it. Overall
it was a great read and had just enough Drama to keep you interested.
I've read so many books in this genre that the plot seems almost the same in every book. I will check out this one though, for your review piques my interest! :-)
